First Term
The first term in Humanities 7 was focused on the introduction of the branches of Social Sciences and its importance in the study of history. After, we inquired into the concept of civilizations by studying how other related concepts such as: migration and society. To inquire into these concepts, we looked in to the early indigenous societies of the Philippines. At the end of the term, we used our understanding to create a family tree showing our origins and heritage.
Second Term
After learning the concept of civilizations, we inquired into the concept of colonization and change. We inquired into the colonization of the Philippines by Spaniards by exploring the following periods: the arrival of the Spaniards, the changes instituted by the Spaniards, and the movements for reform and revolution against the Spaniards. In order to understand this unit better, we visited the National Museum of the Philippines: Fine Arts Gallery to learn about the reform movement. To end our unit, we created a documentary showing how migration and colonization affect a community through the influence they bring.
Third Term
For the third term, we continued our inquiry into colonization by digging into the colonization of the Philippines by the Americans and the Japanese. To conclude our inquiry into colonization, we looked into the changes the Philippines underwent after the war, specifically the concepts of government, challenges, and opportunities. To help us understand our unit better, we went on a field trip to the Malacanan Palace Museum and Presidential Library for our research on government projects and issues. At the end of this unit, we wrote a research paper on different social issues in the Philippines, this was based on the challenges and issues discussed in our classes.
